About Lab grade
Lab Grade Performance started with a simple motivation: we love this work, we want to use what we know, and most of all, we want to help people. Our goal is to make evidence-informed fitness and nutrition more accessible, whether that's for someone building their own health or a business trying to get it right for their customers.
Training and nutrition aren't one-size-fits-all. What you want to accomplish, why you want to accomplish it, and what your life actually looks like all matter. That's where we start with every individual we coach, and it's the same lens we bring when we consult for a brand: understand the real problem before recommending a solution.
We coach toward independence. Our goal is to help you build the knowledge and confidence to make decisions about your training and nutrition for the rest of your life, not to keep you relying on us indefinitely. Transparency is a major part of that philosophy, and we hold our consulting work to the same standard. We won't work with companies or brands built around misinformation, disproven products, or research designed to reach a predetermined conclusion.
Whether it's a client's program or a company's product claim, when our name is attached to something, we want to be able to stand behind it. That standard comes from the two people behind Lab Grade Performance: Antonella and Tyler, siblings who each bring their own strengths to every client and every business they work with.
Antonella is an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology and Sport Sciences, with research focused on skeletal muscle physiology, specifically adaptations to resistance training, and sport nutrition. She's an active researcher, averaging around ten publications a year, and spends much of her time working directly in the lab with her research team. Her recent work includes a randomized controlled trial on magnesium L-threonate supplementation and its effects on sleep, cognition, and neuromuscular performance, as well as ongoing research addressing common myths in female-specific training around aerobic exercise, fat loss, and supplementation. She brings that same research-first lens into every program and consulting project she's a part of.
Tyler's coaching background starts on the field. He was an NCAA All-American running back, so he understands what serious training actually demands, not just in theory, but from having done it himself. Since then, he's earned his CSCS, spent many years coaching clients privately, and is currently pursuing his master's degree in kinesiology while working as a sport science researcher.
Together, that's Lab Grade Performance: one side grounded in research, the other grounded in real experience, and both equally committed to getting it right for the people who trust us.
